Satellite Groups

Art Makers
Elena Wright 910-256-5402
elenawright@ec.rr.com
The Art Makers satellite group meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 1:30 pm. This group is open to anyone interested in creating or enjoying art in all mediums: drawing, painting, sculpting, jewelry making, photography, fabric art, glass, pottery, papier mache', etc. Members bring an example of something they've been working on and share how they feel about it, the process, the things they like or don't like, etc. This is a chance to get acquainted with other members who have the drive to make things and learn from each other while drinking ice tea and laughing alot. We also share art opportunities available in this area. When possible, the meetings will include quick demonstrations of an aspect of the medium.

Hope everyone is happily recovered and has good memories of the holidays. It's time to get back into artsy stuff! Our next meeting will be at the library on Military Cut-Off Road across from Food Lion, January 24th, 1:30-3:30 pm (have to be out of the library by 3:45 pm), and as usual we will share what we've been working on lately...the good, the bad, and the to be improved.....and have a demonstration. Our demonstration this month will be given by our own Karen Skutt who will give us a view into the world of jewelry making. Karen will be getting some materials for this demonstration so it's important that you sign up no later than January 17th. I know everyone will be happy to contribute a couple of dollars for supplies. It's also helpful so I'll know how much tea, cups, etc., to bring. Know some of you bring munchies and that's always welcome.

Pam Andre 910-270-5273
pamandre@hotmail.com
Bring a book to swap (can be a recent read or something you read a long time ago and loved. Bring something to add to a salad (anything you like is fine-we won't be coordinating this!) Greens and drinks will be provided. We'll have a salad lunch and then talk about our books and swap. No fuss, no preparation, no stress, no cost.

Unlike more typical book groups, each participant brings a book which she wishes to share. So each of us gets to talk about one book, which is then available for others to take or borrow depending on the wishes of the owner.

This group has been so popular that the current group is full, but the chairs would be happy to share their "secret to success" and help others to set up a new group. If you are interested, please contact Syble at bels800@gmail.com or Pam Andre at pamandre@hotmail.com.
