Inspiration for the Month

Sharon Minor is filling in for Carole Perkins who is vacationing in Vermont and Maine.

Lately, I've been dwelling a lot on life and, more specifically, life span. You see, I turned 60 last month and my cousin, Ricky, turned 61 on July 14th. The same month of our birthdays, Ricky was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Two biopsies have been inconclusive and he is, as I speak (8/12), in exploratory surgery at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

THIS IS IN HONOR OF RICKY AND TO REMIND US ALL TO LIVE LIKE WE ARE DYING!
Please reflect with me on these thoughts!
Life is a gift, to live is an opportunity, to give is an obligation, and to grow old is a privilege. Age does not depend upon years, but upon temperament and health. Some men are born old, and some never grow so. Age is a matter of feeling, not of years. Peace is when time doesn't matter as it passes by.
You have to climb the mountain to appreciate the beauty of the view. So long as the heart receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, and courage, you will be young. We live in deeds, not years, in thoughts, not breaths, in feelings, not in figures on the dial.

And to keep us smiling, let's also remember...
We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. At our age, we don't have to act responsible. We're in the prime of our life; it just takes a little longer to get primed.
WE MAY GET OLDER, BUT WE DON'T HAVE TO GET OLD!
- Sharon Minor
